  1. "And another thing. We can't have everybody talking at once. We'll have to have 'Hands up' like at school(pg.33)"
~ This quotation is most significant in chapter two because it shows how innocent and young this kids really are. Also, the quotation shows how the Ralph is smart enough to make rules, but use rules from their school. Another reason why this quotation is significant is because it becomes reality to the kids. They need to start establishing leaders, jobs, and rules so they survive. Setting the a frighting mood. They must survive on their own. in conclusion, the quotaion sets reality to the childern as well as setting a frighten mood for chapter two.

  2. "How can you expect to be rescued if you don't put first things first and act proper?"(pg.45).
This quotation is the most significant in chapter two because i believe it will forshadow the rest of the story. Piggie says this to try and persuede the other children to act orderly and properly versus chaotically like they have been. Because the reader can assume the children will not be rescued soon, it may forshadow that the children do not act in an organized fashion. When Ralph said they should make a fire, all the children ran to the top of the mountian as soon as they could and created a fire that spread and could have lit the entire island on fire. This shows a consequence of their disorganised and barbaric behavior. One can assume that things like this will happen often if the children on the island to not act according to Piggie's wise words.

  3. The school boys who gather don't realize the magnitude of the situation until Ralph tells them,"The plane was shot down by flames. Nobody knows [they are here]. [They] may be [there] for a long time." The kids realize then that this isn't just an adventure in their backyard. they have to survive and fend for themselves. some of them, like jack, have had close realizations with the fact they're stuck there, but none of them had been told it flat out like Piggy stated it.

  4. "Then you don't know how many of us there ought to be?"(pg.46).
**This is the most significant quotation in chapter two because it shows just how unknowing the boys are. They are too young to know what procedures should be done when something like this were to happen. Unfortunately, they are now presented with a horrible situation in which they are just too unprepared to handle.

  12. Love the post above! Keep in mind that when you post you can use your real name or a pseudoname but don't post anonymously at all. I need some kind of identifying factor so you can receive credit. Tomorrow I will ask all of you for your blog ID, and Vadym, I can still sense sarcasm even if it is typed! See you all tomorrow!
